We’re delighted to welcome our guest columnist, Rob Bamforth from Quocirca. Rob’s article advises companies to understand the impact of technology on people and processes before they consider the technology issues.
The role of users is critical to the success of a mobile deployment. This focus on those using mobile technologies has been a key foundation stone behind the development of mprodigy™. So it seems only appropriate to continue this theme in my top tips:
| 1 |
Consider the needs of your mobile users – how will they interact with the mobile devices and how will you identify their training needs? |
| 2 |
Listen to your users and get it right from the start. If your users become disenchanted during the early deployment, it can be extremely difficult to turn them around. |
We’re also delighted that our Partner Portal is now online to provide a useful resource to all our partners.

People and process before technology by Rob Bamforth, Quocirca |
Where once it was sufficient for those managing mobile deployments to focus on the devices, the spread of use into more critical and mainstream business operations has switched this from a technology issue to a business issue. It has now become far more important to understand the more complex impact on people and process, rather than taking a simplistic view oriented solely around the hardware.

| Why the Mobile Industry is failing its customers |
Dave Elliot, Sales Director of B2M Solutions, calls on the mobile industry to provide a clear definition of what is meant by device management so that customers can achieve the very best results from their mobile investments. In his view, the industry has a responsibility to explain that managing mobile phones and Personal Information Management (PIM)/PDA devices is distinct from line-of-business mission critical solutions – hence the need for an agreed definition. |
