I attended Service Management Expo (SMe) at the NEC in Birmingham recently. SMe focuses on the field services market and seems to be on the up. People return to the show each year because it seems to offer a good mix of the suppliers they want to meet, seminars of interest and peers to network with.
Among the speakers this year was Kim Gasson, CTO for Field Force Automation at BT Global Services. Kim's talk was well received and his vast experience and knowledge of implementing mobile projects was clear. There was one gem of information he repeated a number of times to ensure that all of us in the audience understood, "Before you spend loads of time and effort on deploying any IT project, make sure you have a clear view of the business process you are automating." He went on to highlight the dangers and disasters that are caused when there aren't common processes in place across the company.
I know BT has experienced this pain and is now sharing the lessons learned with its field service customers. That's why the partnership with BT and B2M is so close; our founders also went through the pain of deploying several large mobile projects and have taken those experiences and applied them not just to the services B2M provides but across the entire business. Together we are continuing to help reduce some of BT's pain points which in turn it will pass onto its customers. This will ensure BT's customers are happier as the service delivery continues to improve every step of the journey.
This leads me to a conclusion for solution providers: It is vital that you sort out your own 'pains' before you can address your customers' issues; So what are you doing to address them?
B2M Solutions is warning of costly gaps in business intelligence impacting on ROI, and is pleased to be offering a free ROI Health Check to highlight these. The Health Check will be offered via its mprodigy software.
The software, which is used by leading firms such as BT, Kwik Fit, Johnson Controls and Moody International provides users with an analysis of problems affecting workforce productivity, user adoption, infrastructure, cost of ownership and mobile process efficiencies; intelligence which can then be used to identify how, where and why the ROI is being eroded.

"Is another mobile acronym on your Christmas list? Great! I have one for you, MEMP (mobile enterprise management platform). A MEMP is designed to help you keep mobile systems, mobile networks, mobile devices and your mobile workforce working and productive. This is not easy if you have several thousand mobile devices being used in mission critical roles across a wide geographic area.
When my family and I are traveling on trains in Europe, all of the rail staff that check your tickets and sell you snacks are carrying mobile devices. Airports and airport gates are increasingly being operated by people with mobile devices. Public safety and emergency responders are nearly all carrying mobile devices today.
If you have the good fortune of being the person responsible for keeping mission critical mobile applications and mobile devices operating, then you would appreciate the value of a MEMP."
