Overview
Our vision for transforming the mobile enterprise is based on the belief that change should be incremental. We have built on a model of 3 key stages of mobilisation maturity; these are Run, Grow and Transform, according to the Gartner Group.
Run
During the 'Run' stage of mobilisation, the overriding focus is on the technology; getting everything up and running as quickly as possible and then ensuring that it is managed effectively and efficiently. Businesses at the 'Run' stage are typically reactive, responding to issues as and when they arise in order to preserve the smooth running of operations. Decisions here are fact-based focussing on snap-shots of data whether historic or real-time and making judgement calls accordingly. To measure success, organisations will look to metrics such as speed of deployment, technology uptime and number of helpdesk calls.
Grow
At the 'Grow' stage the focus turns towards achieving operational excellence; stripping out costs and increasing productivity. Scalability begins to become prominent as organisations seek to capitalise and expand upon the advantages that mobilisation has already brought them. Organisations at the 'Grow' stage move to being more pro-active and begin to look at the core business processes delivering mobile products and solutions. Through the use of analytics, insight is gleaned from the technology into how and where cost savings can be made and productivity increased. Key measures of success here are gained as a result of utilising assets more efficiently, replicating best practice across all users, making better use of economies of scale and pro-actively looking for ways to improve both helpdesk and device user productivity.
Transform
At the 'Transform' stage mobility is truly seen as core to the on-going success and profitability of the business. The focus is on business processes; streamlining them, reducing execution times, maximising 'wrench' time and minimising turnaround times. True business transformation is enabled through the realignment of core business processes – pro-active analysis becomes predictive and the utilisation of Mobility Intelligence tools fed by data from the mobile enterprise is critical to this. At the ‘Transform’ stage true success is measured by competitive advantage. To achieve this organisations look to manage risk more effectively, introduce new services at minimum cost, gain increases in customer satisfaction and explore opportunities in new markets and geographies. Success can be planned for and measured by comparing process performance, analysing trends and patterns and through carefully measuring and monitoring the impact of even small changes to the whole organisation.
